Book “Shias of Kashmir” released at Srinagar

Srinagar:An impressive function to release book “The Shia’s of Jammu & Kashmir’ by Justice (Rtd) Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain held on Saturday 22nd July at Auditorium hall of Information Department Srinagar by renowned dignitaries.

A well-known journalist Saeed Naqvi, who was chief guest on the occasion, emphasized on recording the significant events of past which have shaped our present. He mesmerized the audience with his powerful rendition of a number of Mir Anees’s quartrains.

Hojatul Islam Wal Muslimeen Syed Taqi Naqvi, emissary of Ayatollah Mehdi Mahdavipur, Representative of spiritual leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei for India read out his message which conveyed deep affection of Iranian nation towards Kashmiri people and appreciation for its history. He offered his gratitude to author for tis great contribution.

Prof Shafi Shauq presented a review of the book while many other speakers dwelt in detail about the significant contribution by the author in the shape of this book.

The book, which comprises two volumes, is an analytical study of the Shia community in Jammu & Kashmir from 1324 to 1947 A.D. It gives a vivid account of the origin and spread of Shiism in the region.

“The book is a historical study on the subject which gives an in depth study of the socio-political and cultural history of the Shias of the state. It also gives a brief account of the life and works of prominent Shia ulema, rulers, nobles, poets, writers, physicians, historians and eminent Shia personalities who made great efforts to propagate Islam in different areas and made noteworthy contributions in various fields,” the author said.
