36th International Islamic Unity Conference attended by thinkers and luminaries in Tehran

Tehran | WTNS | Oct 13: More than 300 luminaries and thinkers from different schools of thought in Islam across globe attended the 36th International Unity Conference organized at Tehran.

While speaking at the opening ceremony of the 36th International Conference of Islamic Unity, Iranian President, Ayatollah Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday congratulated the auspicious birth anniversary of the Prophet of Islam (SA) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS) and warmly welcomed the guests from all over the world and said Islam that by raising the question about what strategies should be used to promote unity within the Islamic Ummah in this conference and what are the necessary predictions to prevent division and separation? He said: modern man can create a happy life for himself by relying on God, self-confidence and religious teachings.

The President added that looking at the entirety of religion, and the responsiveness of religion to the needs of contemporary man, gives such strength and power that he can face the cultural invasions and the vision presented by the West and the East, which have no compatibility with a religious-based life style.

The conference held under the theme of “Islamic Unity, Peace and Avoidance of Division and Conflict in the Islamic World” by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and more than 300 thinkers and intellectuals delivered speeches in the webinars and in presence meetings of the 36th International Islamic Unity Conference.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought delivered the opening speech and welcomed the guests.

A number of Shia and Sunni participants in the ceremony will visit the mausoleum of the late founder of Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA).

A number of Islamic thinkers from 60 countries joined the conference in person and online. The speeches delivered at the conference will be uploaded on the Internet in Farsi, Arabic, and English languages.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will receive the selected guests of the conference on Friday.

Due to the recent pandemic in the world, the last two editions of the vent were held either online or with a few attendees.

The Kashmiri Seminary student of the Al-Mustafa International University Qom, Syed Karar Hashmi participated in the conference held meetings with many internationally renowned political as well as religious leaders.

During the meetings with fellow scholars, Syed Karar Hashmi termed the unity conference basically an opportunity to create Islamic empathy and reject extremism. In fact, it is very important to face the extremism that led to the formation of terrorism and are a source of weakness for the Islamic Ummah.
