New Delhi:Slamming the government for proposal on scraping Article 370, Congress leader Kapil Sibal claimed that the move has alienated Kashmir from India. “We want Kashmir but today we have lost it,” Kapil Sibal said.
Kapil Sibal accused that the government gave opposition very little time to prepare for a fair debate. “The bill will definitely be passed and you know that because you know that you have numbers. You did not discuss Article 370 with Kashmir leaders, you did not inform the Opposition because you need numbers to get it passed and you have numbers. Is this how democracy will run? With you having the majority of numbers?” Kapil Sibal said.
The Congress leader said that time will judge the decision being termed historic by the ruling dispensation today.
“Today is not a day to go back into history or talk about law, today we should be thinking about why we are here, why we are a democratic nation, these are the questions we need to ask.
“Today is not a day to go back into history or talk about law, today we should be thinking about why we are here, why we are a democratic nation, these are the questions we need to ask. Bill will be passed because you have manufactured the majority. You call it historic but only history will tell if this is historic,” he said.
A major ruckus broke out in the House after Kapil Sibal said that Kashmir was part of India because of Former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, as he claimed, Saradar Patel was ready to give the princely state to Pakistan.
