Srinagar:An educational awareness cum counselling program under theme “improving access to quality education in weaker societies” was held today in Nowgam area of Sonawari Kashmir, where in experts from diverse backgrounds provided career guidance to the students. A good number of students from diffrent classes particpated in programe. Experts focused on diffrent issues and individual counselling (face to face) and guidance was provided to the students according to their level and subject of interest. Mirza Mohammad Rafiq a renowned social and educational reformist, presided over the session while as Mr Hakim Mohammad Iliyas advised students on what course they should choose, how they should prepare for entrance and how many years of education one needs to put in, what institutes or colleges are available considering the course choice of stuents.
It is worth to mention that the team accopained by journalist & rights activist Sajid Rasool and other local volanteers of the area visited ” free remedial coaching centers of the area” viz Harinara, Ankhuloo, Nowgam & Shilwath villages respectively. While interacting with volanteer teachers and management of the coaching centers ,immediate needs and requirments of centers were discussed. Mr Hakim Mohammad Iliyas while speaking with the concerned assured full possible help and support in order to meet the requirements of the centers.

Some highlights of todays career counselling program and visit to coaching centers

??One on One (Individual) Career Counselling & Career Guidance provided to number of students from class IX to PG level students
??Information related to diffrent skill devlopment and vocational courses provided to school drop out youths.
?? On spot provisonal admission of more than 10 students of the area done in engineering and para medical courses in JIT Lucknow & ERA Medical College on scholarship basis.
?? 25 poor students of the area (who had recently passed Xth class examination with more than 80% marks) from the area chosen for free tuition to be admitted in reputed coaching institutes of srinagar.
?? Volunteer and free remedial Coaching Centers strengthened by meeting their immediate needs and requirements in order to continue coaching classes.
