Srinagar:Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah said that Kashmiri militants are sacrificing their lives to demand their rights.

In Srinagar on Friday, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Head of National Conference,Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that Kashmiri militants are sacrificing their lives to demand their rights. “They (militants) are giving sacrifices to demand their right, ‘this is our land and we are its rightful owners’. When our boys are rendering sacrifices, they are not aspiring to become MLAs, MPs or ministers,” said Abdullah. He was at a conference, he was addressing some people. He said, “Give us our land back. Don’t forget they (militants) have left everything (for freedom).

“No one wants to die. But these people have made a promise to their god, who gives us life and takes it,” he said. “But to liberate our nation we will give our lives, they (India) do not still understand neither does Pakistan. This battle started in 1931, we are no one’s enemy. But we are telling these countries to do justice to us, he exclaims.

“Tell both countries you haven’t done justice to us. The promise you made in 1948 you have forgotten, but today you are facing a new generation who are not afraid of guns. Who want to bring azadi for this nation,” said Abdullah.

Earlier today Abdullah also said that India and Pakistan should resolve their issues on Kashmir because answer to bullets cannot be bullets. But he hailed the courage of militants who can give their lives for freedom of Kashmir. “They have left homes for this cause. If somebody tells them, we will answer bullets with bullets. They didn’t fear bullets then (1990) why will they fear now. We have to save our nation now,” said the National Conference leader.

He also said that violence in Kashmir valley is worsening the situation of poor people who earn from tourism. He asked for a high-level judicial commission to be constituted to look into the matter as to why the Kashmiri youth is taking up arms. “We have to take into account their (militants’) sentiments. What is the reason for their taking up arms? A high-level judicial commission should be constituted to look into what is compelling the youth to take up arms,” he said.
