Srinagar:After remaining suspended for 40 days, famous Gulmarg Gandola was today thrown open for tourists after J&K Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) restored the cable service completely.
Managing Director JKCCC Shamim Ahmad told that the cable service was fully made operational today and thrown open for tourists.
The first ride was offered to foreign tourists from Belgium, UAE and Indian tourists.
Seven tourists, including four of a family, died on June 25 after a pine tree fell in the cable car.
“We have restored the cable car completely and have resumed it from today,” Ahmad told KNS.
On preventing falling on trees in future on the cable car, the MD said that “guying” (wiring of tress to prevent their fall) of tress along the cable line has been done.
