Doha | WTNS | Oct 04:Hamas has submitted its response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan, signaling readiness to release prisoners and transfer governance of the territory.
The Palestinian Resistance movement said it had conducted “extensive consultations to reach a responsible position” on the proposal, motivated by its aim to halt Israeli aggression. Hamas declared its willingness to release all prisoners — both living and deceased — in line with the plan, and expressed “immediate” readiness to engage in mediated negotiations to discuss the details.
The group reiterated its acceptance of handing over Gaza’s administration to a Palestinian body of independents, formed on the basis of national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic states. However, it stressed that Gaza’s future and broader Palestinian rights must be addressed within a comprehensive national framework.
“As for other issues mentioned in President Trump’s proposal related to the future of the Gaza Strip and the authentic rights of the Palestinian people, these are linked to a comprehensive national position based on relevant international laws and resolutions,” the statement said, adding they “will be discussed through a comprehensive Palestinian national framework in which Hamas will participate and contribute responsibly.”
On Thursday, Hamas Political Bureau member Mohammed Nazzal confirmed the movement would announce its stance on the U.S. plan “very soon,” highlighting its seriousness in pursuing understandings aimed at stopping the war in Gaza. Speaking to Al Jazeera, he said the response “will not be delayed,” and stressed Hamas would not accept threats or dictates.
Nazzal reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the principle that “time is blood,” emphasizing its determination to stop the massacres before they enter a third year. He acknowledged that while Trump’s plan contained “many caveats,” Hamas was examining “gray areas” that might open a path toward ending the conflict.
Earlier Thursday, President Trump gave Hamas until 6 p.m. Washington time on Sunday to submit its response. On Truth Social, he claimed the deal would “save the lives of all remaining Hamas fighters,” warning it represented a final chance and threatening that, if rejected, “all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
