London | WTNS | Aug 24: On the occasion of Arbaeen-e-Hussaini, Hojatul Islam Wal Muslimeen Syed Murtaza Kashmiri, a special representative of the Grand Ayatollah Syed Ali Sistani in Europe has issued a message to beliervers and millions of pilgrims who are set to attend the Arbaeen procession this year.

In light of narrations related to the Holy progeny of our Last Prophet Muhammad “S.A.W.W” it is said that there must be the ethical sovereignty in the over all pilgrim in respect of refraining from savoury gluttonous desires . Consciousness about the activities during pilgrimage lest it may yield opportunities to the enemies who plans to wipe-out the memories of Imam Hussain “A.S”.

Every year million of believers from different parts of the world go on pedestrian for the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain “A.S”. The devotees go with their families from yonder distances for the forty toilsome days. The way the progeny presented at the shrine of imam Hussain As after the battle of Karbala when imam Hussain sacrificed everything in the way of Allah , the successors of imam Hussain As paid their presence . In this service the devotees are blessed in return while presenting themselves at the Holy shrine of Hazrat Imam Hussain “A.S”. The believers perform the acts very sincerely is the way to gain the attachments of devotional essence. Following the paths of the Holy Progeny “A.S “ the accustoming of Ziyarat rituals symbolizes devotional mark.

It is narrated from Abi Abdullah Sadiq (A.S): Whenever you intend to visit Imam Hussain(A.S), be attuned with the bereavement guise , doleful , starved and in thirst state. Reaching Karbala must serve the purpose ironically it is seen that some pilgrims take it as adventurous endeavours leaving the spiritual delights apart by skipping major principles which stands to the converse.

One of the traditions in Kamil al-Ziyarat is narrated by Ibn Quliyyah from Ali ibn al-Hakim and some companions: Abu Abdullah (A.S) said: I was informed that a group went to visit Imam Hussain (A.S) with sweets and other things, so if he is going to visit the graves of his relatives and friends, will he do the same?! It is known from this tradition that Imam Sadiq (A.S) criticizes those pilgrims who only keep track of all kinds of food and beverages and do not confine themselves to a small amount of food.

Another mentioned hadith is from Saleh bin Al-Sundi and he narrates from a person named Abu Al-Maza: Abu Abdullah said to me: Are you going to visit the grave of Abu Abdullah(A.S)?

I said yes; Imam replied: Do you consider it a tourist trip? I said yes, he said: When you go to the graves of your fathers and mothers, would you do the same!? I asked: So what should we eat? He said: Bread and milk. Similarly, there is a third hadith narrated in the chain of Mufadal Ibn Umar: Abu Abdullah(A.S) said: If you are performing Ziyarat then it is better that you don’t do it. Do not visit. I said that this sentence broke my back. He said: By God, people go to their father’s grave in a state of worry and sadness, but they go to Imam Hussain’s (A.S) grave as a tourist. Therefore, when you go to the grave of Imam Hussain(as), go in a state of grief. Such traditions and many other traditions show that the best and most delicious foods are abominable in Ziyarat.

It is appropriate that the pilgrims of Imam Hussain (A.S) must avoid delicious and pleasant food and visit the grave of Imam Hussain (A.S) in a sad state. It should be noted that the above-mentioned traditions are not against the veneration of the pilgrims of Imam Hussain (A.S), but it is necessary that those responsible for the service of the pilgrims of Imam Hussain (A.S), mourners and procession leaders should pay special attention to what has been said. And also work to prevent it. There should not be extravagance in the processions because this practice is not liked by the Islamic law. According to the saying of the Almighty Allah:

وکلوا واشربوا ولا تسرفوا انه لا یحب المسرفین

Allah does not like extravagance. Also, it is the duty of the honorable pilgrims not to perform any such act that may cause disrespect to Imam Hussain (A.S) and the Islamic law when broadcasted on social media.

At conclusion, we pray to Allah to protect the pilgrims of Imam Hussain(A.S) from all calamities and to accept their efforts and save them from extravagance.

انه ولی التوفیق.

Allah is the protector of victories
