Human life is more important than Internet Service: Jitendra Singh on Kashmir lockdown

New Delhi:Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh has claimed that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is normal after the abrogation of Article 370. He insisted that human life is more important than internet connectivity.

While speaking at India Today Conclave 2019 on Friday, Jitendra Singh called the Opposition hypocrites who did not want democracy to be more open.

Jitendra Singh claimed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will come forward in support of the Union government’s decision on Article 370 within six months. He also said that taking back the Pakistan-Administered Kashmir (PAK) was the next goal which would not be achieved through military aggression.

TAKEAWAYS FROM THE SESSION

There are restrictions on people’s movements in the jurisdiction of only 12 out of 200 police stations in Jammu and Kashmir. There is no curfew anywhere. However, Section 144 has been imposed which restricts gathering of more than four people at one place. People are not coming out of their homes voluntarily.

Kashmiriat is all about having a composite culture. Those who are supporting the burning of schools do not have a right to talk about liberty. Those whose children are staying in safe haven in foreign countries are talking about liberty and democracy.

Parliament represents 130 crore people. Both the Houses of Parliament passed the resolution. So no one can say that the people were not taken into account while abrogating Article 370.

Some political people did not want panchayat elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir. The other dynast party called for a boycott of the elections.

India’s claim in PoK is not proclaimed by the BJP. Parliament had passed a resolution in this regard in 1994 when Congress was in power under PV Narsimha Rao. Congress has a tendency to dilute the resolution in the name of secularism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent his first Diwali after becoming prime minister in Kashmir among the flood-affected people. He had announced an aid of Rs 18,000 crore. The amount has gone up to Rs 1 lakh crore now.

QUOTES FROM THE SESSION

“Retrieving PoK does not mean military aggression. In five years, other countries who earlier were not comfortable with India’s stand on Kashmir, have come in support of India. Pakistan is also under diplomatic pressure,” Jitendra Singh said.

“Powers in Islamabad can’t do away with their rhetoric on India. There are multiple power centres. They know the implications of a nuclear war. They may not be in proportion to what they intend to do,” Jitendra Singh said.

“We don’t interfere in the elections. As BJP, we are always ready for an election. It is not necessary for the Election Commission to abide by the inputs sent by the Home Ministry. I am not sure whether the delimitation process has begun,” Jitendra Singh said at India Today Conclave 2019.
