India–Russia Summit: PM Modi, President Putin Vow to Intensify Joint Fight Against Terrorism

New Delhi | WTNS | Dec 05:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that terror attacks, whether in Pahalgam or at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall emerge from the same violent ecosystem, emphasizing that India and Russia will continue to work together to dismantle it. He made the remarks during summit-level talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi.

Calling terrorism “a direct assault on the values of humanity,” PM Modi said both nations have consistently “stood shoulder-to-shoulder” in countering extremism. Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, he said the tragedy underscores the urgent need for global solidarity against terror networks and their sponsors.

Five-Year Economic Cooperation Plan Announced

Amid heightened security concerns, the two leaders also finalized a five-year economic cooperation roadmap till 2030, aimed at giving new momentum to an eight-decade-old strategic partnership. Agreements were signed in areas including health, mobility, and people-to-people exchanges.

PM Modi described India–Russia ties as “steadfast like a pole star,” noting that the partnership has remained resilient through decades of global shifts. He also called for the early conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union to enhance trade volumes.

Russia Assures Fuel Supplies; Push for Nuclear Energy Cooperation

President Putin expressed confidence that bilateral trade could touch USD 100 billion annually, and assured India of uninterrupted fuel supplies. He said energy particularly nuclear cooperation—remains a major pillar of the partnership, and highlighted prospects for collaboration on small modular nuclear reactors and floating nuclear plants.

PM Modi added that cooperation in critical minerals would significantly strengthen global supply chain security.

Reiterating their shared vision, both leaders said India and Russia will continue working with like-minded countries to uphold a just, balanced and multipolar global order.
