New Delhi| WTNS | Nov 15: Ayatollah Dr. Abdul Majid Hakim-elahi, the special Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, met Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Ameer Dr. Syed Sadatullah Husaini at the organisation’s headquarters in Delhi to review long-standing relations and explore avenues for future collaboration.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Husaini noted the decades-old engagement between the Leader’s Office and JIH in providing guidance to India’s Muslim community. He reiterated Jamaat’s commitment to a balanced, moderate Islamic approach and its emphasis on dialogue-based engagement.
Ayatollah Hakim-elahi expressed concern over growing intellectual and social challenges faced by young Muslims, including the impact of social media and weakening family structures. He called for a stronger digital presence by Islamic institutions to address emerging issues.
He also outlined three dominant contemporary trends in Islamic interpretation ; extremist, liberal, and moderate , stating that Iran, Indian scholars, and JIH share the moderate, justice-oriented approach rooted in dialogue. He thanked JIH for its expression of solidarity during the recent 12-day Iran–Israel conflict.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation through joint research initiatives, academic programs, cultural exchanges, and youth-oriented training projects. The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by JIH.
