The message of Karbala is vivid and clear. The battle of Karbala was not meant to grab a patch of land, rather it was intended to secure and uphold core Human Values. It was a battle between good and evil, right and wrong and justice and oppression.

The message of Karbala is vivid and clear. The battle of Karbala was not meant to grab a patch of land, rather it was intended to secure and uphold core Human Values. It was a battle between good and evil, right and wrong and justice and oppression.
The heroic and valiant sacrifice of Imam Hussain a.s has no parallels in the known history of mankind. It teaches us when we are up against the evil forces, never to yield rather to stand our ground firmly and win. Without an ounce of doubt, the stellar sacrifice of Imam Hussain a.s became an emblem of resistance to injustice, tyranny and oppression. We learn from Karbala that there comes a time in our life when we have to decide either to give in and continue to suffer the excesses of oppressors or put up a fight and topple these evil forces. We should follow in the footsteps of Imam Hussain a.s and vanquish those dark forces which pose a threat to our core Human Values.
Muharram is the month that jolts human conscience to expose the roots of terrorism which in our days is trying to tarnish the humanitarian image of Islam. This is evident by the bestial ways of the takfiris and similar groups that shamelessly call themselves Muslims, while in practice they have nothing to do with the egalitarian laws of Islam, as in clear by the almost daily killing of Muslims in Yemen.

Don’t hit your child then cry over Asgar a.s
Don’t shut off your brothers then cry over Aba Fadl Abbas a.s
Don’t be harsh towards your sister then cry over Syeda Zainab s.a
Don’t hurt your mother then cry over Syeda Zahra s.a.
Karbala is a school, not a show!
This is the message of Imam Hussain a.s. This is what the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) stood for and drank the cup of martyrdom so that humanity could have a worthy model in every age and clime against the forces of oppression and corruption. Karbala resounds even today and will continue to resound until the end of time. The reason is best captured in the famous lyrics of Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq a.s, “Every day is Ashura, and every land is Karbala.” The Imam intimates that tyranny and oppression occur almost every day and these atrocities happen in virtually every country. Any casual observer of the world scene recognizes that the truth of the Sixth Imam’s statement is more evident today than ever before. Thus the message of Imam Hussain a.s behind his stand in Karbala is relevant for all times and represents a perpetual call for concrete action. The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Karbala is that Hussain and his followers were the rigid believers of God. They illustrated that numerical superiority does not count when it comes to truth and falsehood.
Thus, the message of Imam Hussain a.s and the mourning ceremonies of the month of Muharram are the heritage of Humanity, and justice will never be realized until mankind realizes the significance of the immortal tragedy of Karbala!
