Karil: In Ladakh’s frontier District Kargil observed two days complete shutdown against the abrogation of Article 370,35A, bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and demanding early release of political leaders of the state and restoration of communication blockade across state.
The two days bandh call was given by Joint Action committee which comprised all religious and political key stakeholders of Kargil district.As per reports,During 28th and 29th August, whole Kargil district including Sankoo, Suru, and Drass areas observed complete shutdown inn solidarity with people of Kashmir.
While talking to media, Congress leader Mohammad Subhan Jaffery strongly condemned the Centre’s move on Jammu and Kashmir and termed it as a dictatorship.
He said, “When Government need us, they take us on board and when they don’t need us, they throw us away”.
A local resident and businessman namely Mohammad Ismail said that We have cultural, historical and trade ties with Kashmir and we want to stay with Kashmir rather than Leh.
“The government decision was against our will and it was undemocratic and unconstitutional step”;he added
Its pertinent to mention here that the coordination committee Drass have already rejected the UT status for Ladakh region and they demanded to stay with Jammu and Kashmir UT. This demand was also endorsed by JAC during the meeting with Drass representatives.
