Srinagar | WTNS | Agha Syed Amin Musvi | Sep 30:Kashmir was engulfed in mourning following the martyrdom of Hezbollah leader Syed Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon. Protests and processions broke out across the region, with mourners carrying black flags and chanting anti-Israel and anti-US slogans. Large gatherings were reported in Shia-dominated areas, including Hassanabad, Zadibal, Saidakadal, Chattabal, Gaw Kadal, Shalimar, Padrethan, Bemina and Magam, where thousands poured onto the streets to express their grief.
As per the reports of Wilayat Times, Shops and business establishments shut down in solidarity, with Zadibal in Srinagar observing a complete shutdown in Budgam and other parts of valley. Peaceful Processions carried photographs of Syed Hassan Nasrallah and Hezbollah flags, while women also participated in the protests.
Political Leaders Suspend Election Campaigns
Several political leaders, including Aga Syed Ruhullah, the Lok Sabha member from Srinagar, and Mehbooba Mufti, president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suspended their election campaigns as a mark of respect. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mehbooba Mufti announced, “Cancelling my campaign tomorrow in solidarity with the martyrs of Lebanon & Gaza especially Hassan Nasrallah. We stand with the people of Palestine & Lebanon in this hour of immense grief & exemplary resistance.”
Aga Syed Ruhullah similarly expressed his sorrow, posting on X, “Calling off my campaign,” and extending his condolences to the people of Lebanon. In a statement during a protest march in Budgam, he hailed Nasrallah’s dedication to the resistance, saying, “He sacrificed his own son for the sake of resistance and attained martyrdom in the path of justice.”
Massive Protests Across the Valley
In Kashmir as well as Kargil, large processions were taken out in solidarity with Nasrallah, as local political and religious organizations called for a shutdown and declared four days of mourning after the leader’s martyrdom. Protests across the Valley saw participation from both Sunni and Shia communities, with a candlelight vigil held in Zadibal to honor Nasrallah’s legacy.
Religious and Political Leaders Condemn Israeli Aggression.
Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Molvi Umar Farooq, the chief cleric of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed his profound grief over Nasrallah’s martyrdom. In a statement, he condemned Israeli aggression and prayed for the departed souls of Nasrallah and the Lebanese civilians killed in the airstrike. “The suffering inflicted on the people of Gaza and Lebanon is heart-wrenching,” he stated, adding that the people of Kashmir stand in solidarity with their Lebanese and Palestinian brethren.
Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, president of the All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association (AJKSA), also expressed sorrow, describing Nasrallah as a visionary leader and champion of justice. He canceled his election campaign, prioritizing collective grief over political activities. Under the banner of AJKSA, a candlelight vigil was organized at Imam Bargah Zadibal to honor Nasrallah’s legacy.
Aga Syed Hassan Issues Condolence Message
Hojatul Islam Wal Muslimiin Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharia Shian, issued a heartfelt condolence message, calling Nasrallah’s martyrdom a “stark realistic force” for the Lebanese resistance. He emphasized that Nasrallah’s sacrifice has strengthened the resolve of the oppressed and fortified the resistance movement’s spirit of defiance and fortitude.
As Kashmir continues to mourn the loss of a revered leader, the region’s solidarity with the people of Lebanon and Palestine remains steadfast. The martyrdom of Syed Hassan Nasrallah has not only united political and religious figures but also deepened the region’s commitment to justice and resistance against oppression.
Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari Calls to Boycott Israeli Products
Prominent Cleric and President Jammu and Kashmir Itehadul Muslimeen Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari condemned the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah in Lebanon’s capital city, Beirut. He emphasized that the martyrdom of Nasrallah, who bravely and wholeheartedly stood against the genocide of the Zionist regime for many years, is a loss for the Islamic world.
Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari reminded the people to boycott products made by Israel and all affiliated items to support the people Palestine.
Sajad Gani Lone urged people to carry forward Nasrallah’s legacy against oppressors.
Sajad Lone expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of Syed Hassan Nasrallah.In a tweet, Lone mourned the loss, referring to it as the “supreme martyrdom” and prayed for Allah’s blessings on his soul. He also urged people to carry forward Nasrallah’s legacy against oppressors. May Allah (SWT) bless his soul & grant us strength to carry forward his legacy against oppressors, Lone tweeted using hashtags #HassanNasrallah and #MartyrOfTruth.
Apni Party president Syed Altaf Bukhari condemned the killings in Lebanon.
“Israel’s ongoing airstrikes on Lebanon are causing heavy casualties and massive destruction. Innocent civilians are suffering the most from this violence.
“The lack of any effective response from the international community is alarming, and the silence of world leaders worsens the situation. I stand in solidarity with the victims and pay tribute to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other martyrs killed in these aggressive airstrikes,” Bukhari posted on X.
Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Shri V. K Birdi-IPS chaired a meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the law & order situation of the zone. The meeting was attended by the senior officers of Police, Security Forces & intelligence agencies, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, DIsG of CRPF South & North Srinagar, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, SSP CID SBK, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP CID CIK, SSP Security Kashmir, SP PC Srinagar, Lt Col (IS) and other officers.He directed district SSsP, Cyber cell and IT & Social media cells to monitor the social media and identify the rumour mongers and those who post incriminating material.
