Srinagar | City Reporter| June 6: During the intervening night of 6th June 2020, As caught on CCTV footage, miscreant with masked face hurled a Petrol bomb at Astana Babul Hawaij Hazrat Imam e Musa Kazim (Pbuh) at Chattabal Srinagar. An FIR has been registered in this regard. Probe has been launched to catch culprits. However no major damage was reported. One of the rare manuscripts, a copy of Holy Quran written around 1300 years back by the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is preserved in a shrine at Chattabal, Srinagar.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Chaudary along with ADC Syed Hanief Balkhi, S.P Tahir Gilani visited the shrine where incident of breach of sanctity was reported and assured people of strict action.

Wilayat Times reports that a miscreant hiding his face with mask from road outside main gate hurled a petrol bomb which landed in the compound and burnt the parked motorcycle immediately but when the attacker saw that damage wasn’t so much he entered the compound by climbing the wall after five minutes of hurling the bomb and then attempted to burn down the Astan Sharief with the second petrol bomb which he had been carrying as backup. Luckily, a vigilant neighbor saw him and challenged him by raising huge and cry. On realizing that he had been spotted, he ran away by climbing the main gate.

The Intizamia Committee which looks after the affairs of the shrine said that we are at this time of deep social abyss where the nefarious elements are working against Muslims and are hell bent to sow the seeds of discord in the social fabric of Kashmir. We the Caretakers of the Astan and all the neighbor’s of the locality are strongly condemning this act of sabotage on our religious places and heritage symbols.

In a Statement to Wilayat Times, Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) president Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari has strongly condemned the petrol bomb attack on Astana Babul-Hawaij(as) in downtown Sajadabad Chattabal Srinagar by unknown persons. 

Condemning this act, Maulana Masroor called it a vicious attempt to fan the flames of hatred. He said that the satisfactory situation in the Valley over the past several years with regard to unity & brotherhood may not come directly to the vested interests and perhaps an agency has been reactivated to disrupt the atmosphere of the unity in the Valley. First they attacked temple at Badamwari, then a mosque at Alipora, Islamic centre at Habbakadal with Petrol bombs now they target the Shrine at Chattabal. So it is clear that the attempt to divide the people & to sow the seeds of discord among the religious communities in Kashmir has already been started. These incidents are executed to spread sectarian divisions & to divert the attention of Kashmiris from the real issues.

Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen demands that immediate legal action be taken against those involved in this heinous act.

Senior Islamic Scholar appeal everyone to remain alert & united against communal forces and be cautious and get the message across to expose the nefarious designs of these elements.

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian led by Agha Syed Hassan Almosavi Alsafvi expressed concern over the incidents and stressed upon people in valley to maintain peace and brotherhood.

The party said that the aim was to harm the atmosphere of satisfactory communal tolerance in the valley and appealed Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema to take serious note of such incidents.

Meanwhile A high-level delegation of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian led by Hujatul-Islam Wal-Muslimeen Agha Syed Abid Hussain Al-Hussaini, Advocate Syed Muntazir Mehdi, Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo and Syed Taseen Mousavi visited Astan Sharif and reviewed the situation in the area.

While expressing his anger and concern over this outrageous act, Head of Anjuman-e-Sharia Shian and Chairman of Ayatollah Yousuf Memorial Trust Agha Syed Hadi Almosavi Alsafvi said that the attack on the religious places is highly condemnable and the demanded a stern action against such elements so that no rioter could commit such a heinous act in the future.  

Talking to Wilayat Times Prominent Islamic Cleric asked people to maintain peace and stay vigil to defeat the designs of such elements.
