Srinagar:Prominent Scholar and Chairman of Ummat e Islami (UeI), Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir Monday said that mutilating the bodies of militants is ‘inhumane act’ and should be stopped.
The UeI spokesman in a statement issued here quoted the chairman as saying that Indian forces on one side claim to be disciplined; however their actions counter that very narrative.
“Charring the bodies of militants or anyone for that case is no disciplined or humane action. It should be stopped for once and all. This cannot be the way forward” Mirwaiz Yasir said.
“One cannot hide behind the name of nationalism for a long and everything cannot be justified in the name of security or law and order,” he added.
He further said that dozens of youth have been picked during nocturnal raids from Islamabad town, Achabal area, Shopian area, Kulgam and Pulwama and hundreds from the Valley. “This very harassment has become reason for dozens of youth to pick up gun and it seems there is no stop to the harassment of the youth,” he said.
The party members demanded the immediate release of the arrested youth from all parts of the valley.
Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir also demanded the immediate release of all political prisoners including Sarjan Barkati, Sajad Hashmi, Ghulam Qadir Wani, Mehmood Topiwaal, Mushtaq ul Islam, Haji Yasin Malik, Qasim Faktoo, Masarat Alam, Peer Mohammed Ashraf, Fayaz Talaq.
Meanwhile, UeI today convened a meeting today, in which the members condemned the constant arrests of Mirwaiz Southern Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed Yasir.
The senior leader of Ummat e Islami here said, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir was enroute to Tral from pampore when he was arrested.
“Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir was evading arrest since the killing of LeT commander, Bashir Ahmed Wani. His house had been raided a couple of times” he said.
The spokesman said many party activists and leaders have been arrested during raids which includes Gulzar Ahmed Madani
