Trust is the foundation of every profession. A patient entrusts their life to a doctor, just as a student relies on a teacher. But when responsibility and ethics are compromised, the consequences can be devastating.

The recent tragedy in Sopore, where a woman underwent an ENT procedure but had her uterus removed instead, has shaken faith in healthcare. Such incidents reflect not just individual negligence but systemic failure. Patients seek private care believing they will receive better treatment, often at great financial sacrifice. When medical professionals fail in their duty, trust is lost.

Beyond Blame: The Real Issue

Many blame foreign-educated doctors or those who entered the profession through donations. However, the root problem lies in a lack of ethics, accountability, and proper training. Responsibility begins at home—if we want honest professionals, we must instill values in our children from an early age.

The Role of Parents and Teachers

Parents must nurture discipline and accountability in their children, teaching them that integrity matters more than material success. Teachers, too, should go beyond academics, ensuring students learn ethics alongside their subjects. Schools should produce responsible citizens, not just degree holders.

Speaking Up for Change

We cannot remain silent in the face of negligence. Every religion teaches that ignoring wrongdoing enables its spread. However, accountability must be balanced with fairness—demanding extreme punishments won’t fix the system. We need stricter training, better regulations, and responsible oversight.

A Call for a More Ethical Society

True success is not in wealth but in the impact we leave on the world. Let’s raise ethical children, uphold integrity, and create a society where responsibility and trust prevail.
