New Delhi | WTNS | May 25:Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid tributes to Late President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other Iranian officials in Tehran on Wednesday (May 22, 2024).
Accompanied by India’s Ambassador to Iran Gaurav Shresth, Mr. Dhankhar paid his tributes at their coffins laid out at Iran International Conference Centre where a special commemorative service for foreign dignitaries was held. Vice-President Dhankhar also met Acting President of Iran Mohammad Mokhber and conveyed his condolences.
He arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran earlier in the day to attend the official ceremony commemorating the tragic demise of Iranian President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials who perished in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024.
Upon his arrival in Tehran, Vice-President Dhankhar was warmly received by Iranian authorities. The Indian Vice-President’s visit is seen as a gesture of goodwill and respect, reflecting the close ties between India and Iran.
As India and Iran navigate this period of mourning, the visit by Vice-President Dhankhar serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
