Women should assert their rightful place in society: Nayeema Mehjoor

Kishtwar:Stressing the need to evolve traditional mindset of society towards women, Chairperson State Women Commission, Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor said that women are equal contributors in every field and need to assert their rightful place in the society.
Nayeema said this while interacting with the girl students, ASHA and Anganwari workers during an awareness camp organized by State women commission in collaboration with district administration today at Government Degree College Kishtwar.
The main motive of the programme was to sensitize the women of far flung areas, interact with them and educate them about their rights, duties and welfare schemes run by the government.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson stressed on the empowerment and education of women by imparting education to the girl child for their all round development.
Nayeema urged the women living in far flung areas to reach the commission in case of settlement of any women centric issue and assured them that every possible help will be extended to them.
Addressing the gathering, Ajaz Abdullah Secretary Women Commission said the Commission will stand against any injustice like domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, dowry, gender inequality, forced prostitution adding that the commission by ways and means tries to empower women and resolve their issues by interaction, seminars and so on.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Nabi Balwan, Member SWC, Gulzar Masoodi and others were also present on the occasion.
