Imam Khomeini did not attain all this gratis but had to pay a huge price. He suffered a lot. He had to undergo incarcerations, banishments, tortures and punishments for his novel revolutionary ideas and a new politico-religion- system. His ideas disturbed the western world and filled people with fear and fright. They did not believe that an Islamic clergy can govern the country but Khomeini emerged as a hope for the other Muslim countries assuring them that Islam is religion that incorporates the best political system.

Michael Foucault remarked in his book, “Foucault and Iranian Revolution” that Imam Khomeini, through his revolution and resistance, ushered ‘political spirituality’ and ‘political freedom’ into his country that revitalized and reinforced the God- Consciousness among people and equipped them with novel idea of the strength of religion of Islam against despotism and tyranny. He rewrote the history of Iran and Islam by dethroning and dismissing the century-long Pahallavi cruel regime of Iran that had stripped it away of its oil-treasures and gas- resources, culture and civilization.
Colonial powers administered Iran to serve their own national and international interests scraping it out from inside to make its people crippled both financially and religiously. Iranian companies and industries were completely under the domain of colonial powers to take away as much wealth from it as they could. Islamic culture was contorted and distorted on the name of modernism to numb the consciousness of people so that they don’t resist the distortion and rebel against the government. Modern dress code, modern west-promoting education, modern-nudity-culture and civilization was incorporated everywhere. The perspective of people towards Islam was changed and Muslims were given the realization of feebleness if they detach from west. Everything was maneuvered under the garb of colonialism and imperialism. Imam Khomeini comprehended the surreptitious evil-working of these powers and rose against them and successfully defeated them by establishing a new government- Wilayat e Faqi- a new political system that had been established by Prophet Mohammad[pbuh] and completely forgotten since then but revived by Imam Khomeini to tell world that Islam is a political religion and can govern a country in a better way than any other political system of the world. A new recognition and stature rose regarding Islam and it was considered worthy to offer administering and governing powers to any country where it is implemented.
Imam Khomeini obliterated the western narrative promoted opposite to Islam. Muslims, through different institutions, platforms, books and media, were assured that they are incapable of having their representation and participation in the social, political and economical affairs of the world. They were considered bound only to worship, fast and charity but Imam Khomeini altered the world perception in relation to Muslims and showcased that Islam propounds the best social, political and economic systems through which human beings can obtain and accomplish the mission and objective of their creation. Michael Foucault remarked in the above cited book that west is devoid of spirituality and undergoes the incurable trepidation and perturbation. The complete and all- dimensional growth and development of a human being is possible only in the religion of Islam because it caters to every aspect of human life. Other religions are lopsided in a way that they stress more on one dimension and neglect another dimension but Islam balances it and forms a balanced personality.

Western powers undergo dread because a new political system emerged in Iran that challenges their authority and supremacy. They struggle hard to subdue the revolutionary ideas of Imam Khomeini and the recent desecration of this revolutionary leader is an evidence of this western dread. Muslims should, throughout the world, get together against these blasphemes and safeguard Imam Khomeini like figures from the enemies of Muslims and Islam.
Although Khomeini passed away but his revolution is and will eternally remain young and fresh. His ideas are cherished by millions of people throughout the world. He is revered as a champion of Islamic revolution and resistance. He encouraged people both Muslims and non Muslims and gave them the realization that they can stand against bigger tyrannical powers with the instruments of faith and belief.
