3-year-old girl allegedly raped by local boy in Sumbal Bandipora, Police arrest accused

Srinagar: A three year old girl was allegedly raped by a local boy at village Malikpora, Trehgam area of Sumbal in Bandipora district.

Acting on complaint of the victim’s family, police has arrested the accused, identified as Tahir Ahmad Mir (20), son of Abdul Rehman Mir resident of Malikpora, Trehgam, Sumbal.

A senior police official said that they have arrested the accused, and have started investigation into the matter.

A case FIR number 81/2019, under section 363/342/376 RPC has been registered in this connection at Police Station Sumbal, he added.

Locals demanded strict action against culprit. “The culprit should be punished strictly and the case should be on handled on a fast-track basis,” they said.

According to reports scores of youth from various areas of Srinagar while  holding placards and banners in their hands with the messages like “Girls are not toys”, “Hang the rapist Tahir Ahmad”, “RIP Humanity and “We want Justice” demanded stern punishment against the culprit.

The protesters said that the such culprits should not be jailed but hanged.

“What sort of a man does such a thing to a three year old girl. This is absolutely insane. He should be hanged. We don’t understand the logic behind keeping him in jail.” said a protester

The protesters also alleged that some people are trying to shield the culprit. They appealed J&K governor Satya Paul Malik and Director General of Police to take stringent action against the culprit.

Meanwhile Protests were also held in north Kashmir areas demanding severe punishment to the culprit who allegedly raped a three year old girl.

Locals took to streets in Sumbal, Chenabal and other areas of north Kashmir demanding stern action against the rapist.

Protest demonstrations were held in Sumbal in Bandipora against the rape of a three year old girl.

They protestors were demanding severe punishment to the accused, who was been already arrested by police.

A silent protest against rape incident was organized by students at Kashmir University and they demanded a stern action against accused rapist.
