Hassan Rouhani:Muslim nations with Unity and tolerance can solve internal issues and also will defeat plots of enemies

New Delhi:Visiting India, President Dr.Hassan Rouhani has called on all Muslims across the world to preserve their unity in the face of the Israeli regime and other enemies.

Rouhani made the remarks after attending the Friday prayers at Makkah Masjid in the city of Hyderabad, the capital of the southern Indian province of Telangana.

Rouhani also censured the US for recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel, calling on the Muslims to support the Palestinian cause.

He also lashed out at Washington for imposing a ban on travelers from six largely Muslim countries.

Extending the Iranian people’s regards to the Indian nation, the president recalled Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s teachings on the need for unity among Muslims and said “all Muslims’ prayers should be along these lines.”

“If part of the Muslim society in the Islamic world today is suffering from a problem, it is because Islam’s teachings and advice are not acted upon and that real Islam is not dominant,” he said.

Iran`s president was warmly welcomed by people & thousands attended the friday prayer at Mecca Mosque in Hyderabad.

The visiting Iranian dignitary, who arrived here on Thursday, went around the complex, housing mausoleums of rulers of the Qutub Shahi Dynasty (1518-1687), who had Iranian lineage.The officials of the Telangana government briefed Rouhani about the necropolis, which has 72 mausoleums, many of them built in Persian architectural style.

The Iranian chief executive arrived in India on Thursday on a three-day trip at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is heading a political and economic delegation, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and a number of representatives from the Iranian private sector.

Earlier, Rouhani and other Iranian officials held a meeting with a group of elites, religious clerics and leaders of the Muslim community in Hyderabad, where he warned of Western attempts to sow discord among Muslims by creating Takfiri outfits.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says the West has created Takfiri outfits that have nothing to do with the holy faith of Islam in a bid to sow discord among Muslims.

Rouhnai made the remarks in a meeting with a group of elites, religious clerics and leaders of the Muslim community in the Indian city of Hyderabad on Thursday.

“The Western world has made Muslim countries preoccupied with themselves through creating discord among them,” he said.

“The existing differences are while Shias and Sunnis lived brotherly together for centuries, where in Iraq and Syria all religions had peaceful coexistence,” Rouhani added.

The president called India a “living museum of peaceful coexistence of different religions, faiths and beliefs.”

The West, he said, has created split among Muslims and established groups in the name of Islam and Jihad that have nothing to do with Islam and are known as Takfiri outfits.

Rouhani said the Islamic Republic, from its very inception, has been calling for unity and independence and a “Look East” policy and standing with the regional nations to eradicate war and violence.

The president also said problems in Muslim countries cannot be solved through the barrel of guns and military means, adding there is need for logic, reasoning and dialogue to sort them out.

“We do not want to have any gap with any Muslim country or regional states and friendly nations,” Rouhani pointed out.

On Saturday, the Iranian president is to meet with Modi, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, besides taking part in a joint economic gathering.

Regional and international developments as well as bilateral trade ties top the agenda of Rouhani’s talks with Indian authorities.
