Beirut:Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has destroyed a bunker used by Daesh terrorists on the country’s northeastern border.

The movement’s fighters attacked Daesh positions in the al-Zweitini area on the outskirts of Ras Baalbek on Monday, destroying the bunker and killing the terrorists inside.

The War Media Center, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, said on Twitter that Hezbollah fighters also attacked the Daesh reinforcements that were sent to the area.

Takfiri terrorists have been operating in Syria, Lebanon’s neighbor, to topple the government since 2011.

Lebanon has seen acts of terror associated with the militancy in Syria. Daesh and al-Nusra Front terrorists have been active on the outskirts of the Lebanese town of Arsal, located on the border with Syria.

The militants briefly overran Arsal in August 2014, taking several Lebanese army and police forces hostage, some of whom were executed. In December last year, most of the captives were released as part of a prisoner swap deal.

Hezbollah fighters are also combating alongside the Syrian army and allied forces against the terrorists in Syria.

On Monday, a senior Lebanese legislator urged the Beirut government to purge the border area of the Takfiri militants.

“Why are we still allowing the Takfiris to tamper with the security of our towns and villages in the Bekaa Valley? And why has a national, sovereign decision not been taken to save Arsal from the threat of these takfiri terrorists?” MP Mohammad Raad said during a ceremony in the town of Adshit.
