New domicile law, an attempt for demographic change in J&K:PAK Foreign Office

Islamabad:Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned and rejected the Indian government’s over new domicile law in  Jammu and Kashmir.

In her televised weekly news briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said the domicile law was aimed at changing the demographic structure of  Kashmir and undermining the exercise by the Kashmiri people of their right to self-determination through free and impartial plebiscite in accordance with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions.

She said the timing of this action in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic was particularly reprehensible and reflected the opportunistic and mindset of RSS-BJP combine.

The Spokesperson said voices from around the world continue to condemn the inhuman oppression of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and discrimination against minority communities in India.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said Pakistan welcomed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) statement issued yesterday, expressing deep concerns over India`s unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 and subsequent measures to alter demographics of Jammu and Kashmir.

She said the country terms the move “Settlement Colonialist” against the OIC and UN resolutions, Geneva convention, international and humanitarian law.
